Students in Mérida have the unique opportunity to learn Spanish and mingle with the locals, traditionally hospitable and friendly to visitors. They live with families who have extensive experience in receiving international students, in homes carefully selected by University staff. Students are treated as one of the family. It is not exceptional for them to be invited to family events such as weddings and other types of festivities. The homestay experience includes room and board for the duration of the any given program. Bed linens are included and most homes provide towels. Rooms are generally individual. Some have private bathrooms in their rooms, others share a bathroom.

All homes are located within walking distance of a pick up/drop off point on the University bus route. Travel time to the University is approximately 20 minutes.
